Distinct Motive is a Canadian dubstep producer and DJ, rooted in Toronto and St. Catharines—who’s gained recognition for reviving deep, roots-driven dubstep with a dark, minimal, and visceral sound. Since debuting in 2013, he’s earned support across North America and Europe, championing the original aesthetic of dubstep while forging his own distinctive style.
His 2023 Snakes EP on Drama Club Records broke through as a defining release of the summer, with “Snakes” even earning Duploc’s Track of the Year nod, while “Mellow Man”, a previously teased ID erupted onto the scene in early 2024 with his return to Deadbeats, Republic to “Mellow Man” becoming an underground anthem
Live, Distinct Motive is equally impactful, turning crowds inside out with deep-end sound design at festivals and clubs.
